TERPENES

Terpenes

Terpenes are the aromatic compounds that give hemp, and many fruits, herbs and flowers, their distinctive scents. In full-spectrum products they are preserved alongside cannabinoids and are thought to shape the character of the product.

Hundreds of terpenes exist in nature. A handful, myrcene, limonene, pinene, linalool, appear often enough in hemp to be worth knowing, because they influence aroma and may contribute to the overall experience.

Why it matters

Terpenes are why two full-spectrum oils can smell and feel different. They are part of what you are paying for in a quality full-spectrum extract.
