Carrier Oils

A carrier oil is the base oil that CBD extract is dissolved into so it can be dosed and absorbed. Common choices are MCT (coconut-derived) and hemp seed oil. Because CBD is fat-soluble, the carrier helps the body take it up.

MCT oil is popular because it is neutral, stable and may aid absorption. Hemp seed oil adds a nuttier taste and its own nutritional profile. The carrier affects flavour, texture and shelf life.

Why it matters

The carrier oil is an ingredient too, it influences taste, absorption and quality, so it belongs on any honest label.
