Bioavailability

Bioavailability is the proportion of CBD that actually reaches your bloodstream after you take it. It varies a lot by format, sublingual oils and inhalation are higher, while swallowed capsules and edibles are lower because of digestion.

Holding an oil under the tongue (sublingual) lets some CBD absorb directly. Swallowed products pass through the liver first, which reduces how much reaches circulation but can extend how long effects last.

Why it matters

Bioavailability explains why “milligrams” alone don’t tell the whole story, format changes how much CBD you effectively get.
